How to Apply for an Australian Student Visa

1. Apply to a school in Australia to get a confirmation of enrollment

Before applying for an Australian student visa, you must enroll at one Australian school. Then, after they have sent you an offer letter from the school and you have accepted the offer in writing and paid the tuition fee, the school will send you a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). This document is what you need to begin your visa application. If you go for several programs, for example, first taking a preparatory language course and then studying at college, you will need one CoE for each program.


2. You will have to create an account with the Australian immigration authorities.

Nowadays, applications for Australian visas are usually made online. But before you start your visa application, you must create an account with Australian immigration authorities using this link 

You will be asked to submit your name, email address, and phone number there. Then you will create a password and accept the conditions laid out.

3. You must make sure you have all the documents in digital form. 

To request an Australian student visa, you will need the following documents:

  1. Your Confirmation of enrollment 
  2. An overseas student health covers health insurance.
  3. The passport should be valid for your whole stay in Australia. This is required because it’s troublesome to start going to get another passport while you are studying.

4. Complete the online visa application.

 You are required to apply for a student visa subclass 500 if you want to apply for an Australian student visa. The application should be made at least 124 days before your course starts, according to the date on your enrollment confirmation. You apply online.

You must fill in your nationality and CoE codes on the first page. It would be best if you also chose your education sector.

After that, you will be asked to submit your details and your family details, answer questions about your previous educational qualifications and work skills and provide details about your health and criminal record. 

5. Make the visa payment and get a transaction reference number.

6. Possible interview and health checkup.

7. Get your visa decision.
